I attend AT LEAST 60 hours of professional development each school year. I choose workshops that help me teach students more effectively and efficiently and that align with my annual professional growth plan goals.
I graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education in December 2012. I began my teaching career here at Lamar in 2013. So, this is my 6th year teaching! I previosly taught 5 years in the preschool program here at Lamar. I am currently beginning my first year as a first grade teacher! I am excited to continue learing and growing here at Lamar Elementary! I am also an alumni of Lamar. I graduated in 1996, so it’s an honor to come back home and teach here!
I have prior experience teaching children at Buttons and Bows daycare in Clarksville, Arkansas. I also currently work with children at my church doing various things: helping to coordinate plays and special events and filling in for other teacher as needed.
My husband and I married in 2016. Together we have 3 girls: Madison is 19, June is 9, and MCKenzie is 8. Madison attended college at Arkansas Tech University in Ozark and studied cosmotology. June attends school in Texas (but we get to have tons of fun in the summer when she comes to visit, we also make frequent trips to Texas to see her at least every 6 weeks), MCKenzie is a third grade student here at Lamar. We have a dog named Lilly Belle. She likes to eat bacon-flavored Pedigree pouches, chase cows, and lay under my car in the garage when it’s too hot outside! We reside here in Lamar and enjoy taking part in various community events. In the fall, we can usually be found attending football games supporting our Lamar Warriors!
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading. I enjoy novels by Nicholas Sparks. I also like to read informational texts, because I am curious and like to learn new things! I also enjoy travelling to see new places, exploring antique shops, and writing. I also like to write funny children’s stories and poems.
